Replaces and installs nearly 30,000 Square Feet- Steep-Slope Roofing and Deck
For more than 50 years, family-owned and operated Stanley Roofing has specialized in the largest commercial roofing projects for brand name companies in the region. 5 years ago, Stanley teams worked with Ivar’s restaurant on Elliott Bay to replace and install the low-slope area of the building. Based on their long-term relationships with the leading manufacturers of roofing materials, Stanley installed a Soprema SBS 20 year system complete with a No-Dollar- Limit-Warranty. They also provided all of the sheet metal components.
Following the successful low-slope project, Ivar’s Construction Manager Gary Tobiason knew he had serious issues with the steep-slope area of the building and contacted Mark Stanley. “During our roof walk Mark confirmed it was time to tackle this area of the building,” said Gary. “That’s when we started to collaborate with Stanley and Mithun Architects to begin the design and approval process.”
Gary says Mithun’s work with the neighborhood historical community to ensure the project adhered to strict guidelines proved vital. Once approved, Stanley worked together with General Contractor The Blindheim Company to complete the project.
Nuts & Bolts: Above and Beyond the Norm:
Stanley provided the sheet metal flashing details to Mithun to incorporate into the plans.
Blindheim reinforced the trusses; reframed and replaced all of the old windows.
Stanley installed 1/2″ CDX plywood over the existing T & G decking to give the building the required seismic shear.
Stanley installed Malarkey #401 ice and water shield underlayment on the south side and Malarkey UDL underlayment on the north side:
The south side received ice and water shield due to the prevailing winds that come out of the south west.
Installed Malarkey 50 year Legacy shingles using 6 stainless steel comp nails per shingle and all the new custom made sheet metal counter flashings to create a finished look.
Installed new Gutters and Downspouts to complete the project.
“Stanley had the crews, knowledge, equipment and price-point to handle this project,” said Gary. “They did a great job and I would recommend them to anyone in need of a new commercial roof. “
